CPU Mismatch in DL580 G5

Hi guys,

Was wondering if you can help me out on this:

I have one unit of DL580 G5 being installed with 4 CPUs - X7460 (2.67Ghz/6-core/16MB/130w).

When we boot up and from the POST settings, we saw that the external clock settings is at 2621Mhz.

However, when we physically remove the CPU from the socket, we saw this description on the CPU:

"X7460 2666/16M/1066".

So we were thinking the external clock for this cpu should be 1066Mhz. But why is it that at POST, we are seeing 2621Mhz instead?

Can anyone help?

Hello,

http://ark.intel.com/products/36947

The 1066 is the FSB while 2.66 is the clock speed.

Do you get CPU mismatch while booting?
I'd wonder if all CPUs are the same (x7460, same stepping, etc).

Re: CPU Mismatch in DL580 G5

Hi Johan,

yes, I am getting an error.

when starting POST, I am seeing the FSB at 2621Mhz instead of 1066 Mhz.

Any idea what went wrong?

Re: CPU Mismatch in DL580 G5

Are you saying this was working before?

Anway, maybe one of the CPUs are broken.

Have you looked at the System BIOS firmwares?

Re: CPU Mismatch in DL580 G5

Hi Johan,

I have just changed the CPUs from another CPU model.

I have also flashed the bios firmware, latest version 2011.05.02
