CPU upgrade in ML-580-G2?
I have a ML580-G2 with 4 - 1.6GHz processors and 3GB of RAM running Win2k. They are about to install some additional apps and the vendor has suggested adding a CPU and more RAM. So much for software vendor knowledge.
Can this server support the 3.0GHz CPU's?
TIA,
Cmor

Re: CPU upgrade in ML-580-G2?
There are no ML580G2. If server is DL580G2 then you need Xeon MP X1.60 GHz-1MB Processor Option Kit - P/N 226776-B21 (supports the ProLiant DL580 G2 only). For more info see QuickSpec Changes at http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11372_div/11372_div_Changes.HTML (February 6, 2003)

Re: CPU upgrade in ML-580-G2?
My replay above is incorrect. sorry :-) You need Intel Xeon MP X3.00 GHz-4MB Processor Option Kit 345323-B21 (NOTE: This processor option kit PN 345323-B21 supports the HP ProLiant ML570 G2 and the HP ProLiant DL580 G2.) Full options list see at http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/11372_div/11372_div.HTML
