CPU upgrade on DL585 G2
I have upgraded my CPUs (all four of them) on my DL585G2 from 2.6 to 3.0 Ghz 95w. the server now does not even post, as if I did not turn on the server.
Anyone has seen this? is this fixable by a firware update?
Thanks

Re: CPU upgrade on DL585 G2
It seems you have to update your System ROM (BIOS) on your server to support the new Processors.
Please check the revision history for the DL585 G2 System ROM at the following URL:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3219717&swItem=MTX-1f5b2d52c42a46a49fb23d3841&prodNameId=3288124&swEnvOID=1005&swLang=8&taskId=135&mode=5
It shows that support for new processors have been added in several revisions.
What is the current version of System ROM on the server?
HTH.

Shiraj

Re: CPU upgrade on DL585 G2
Also let me know if the new processors are AMD Opteron├в ┬в Processor 8222, Dual-Core (3.0 GHz, 95 Watts) or Quad-Core 8300 series?
Does the server power up when you put in the previous processors?
If the server powers up with the previous processors and depending on the type of the new processors we can check if the server really need an System ROM upgrade.
HTH.

Shiraj.
