Can I use USB Bootable of CentOS for Proliant DL180 G6

Hello,

 

Can I use USB Bootable of CentOS for Proliant DL180 G6. Please share the procedure. I tried making Bootable USB stick for CentOS 6.6 but no success.

Hi,

 

I guess CentOS 6.6 is not supported on this server, please check the CentOS minimum hardware matrix from HP.

If you click the archived products button this sever is listed as v6.0 as the minimum supported

 

DL180 G6*  | CentOS 6.0 | * The HP Dynamic Smart Array B110i/B120i/B320i controller requires a

                        |                        |  close source driver from HP. The RHEL version of the HP driver should work with CentOS.

 

 

To answer the original question, no, there is not a supported way to put the DVD on a bootable USB key.  I've tried various methods found searching the Internet, but have not found one that works 100%. There are even some instruction from Red Hat that explain how to do it but they are flawed. ( I don't recall why, it's been a year or two since I've visited this subject)
