Can Mirrored set be broken & then recreated the same?
We have HP Proliant servers in our environment. The OS is Win2k server or Win2003 server. Most of our systems have 2 physical drives (36 Gigs) each). The drives, via smart start, are set to R0+1.
Before we apply any patches, we break the mirrored drive set by pulling out one of the 2 drives, and then apply software/patches etc., followed by rebooting the server, and if all ok, then placing the drive that was initially pulled out, back into the drive bay.
Question: Is there a way to break the drives (without physically being at a location), then recreating the same way they originally were without disturbing any data or drive configurations? We have some remote computers and it often means driving to those locations to break the mirrored set etc.
Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks..
NK

I take it these drives are attached to a smart array controller? If so, then there is no method for doing what you're looking for.
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..
