Can a Blade Server (BL480 C) Connect to HP Storage Works SAN Switch 2/16 ???
We are planning to buy a couple of BL 480C blade servers but currently we have 2 HP StorageWorks SAN Switches 2/16 (2 GB each). The question is CAN THE BLADES CONNECT TO THE 2 GB SWITCHES AND IF SO HOW ??? IF NOT, WHAT IS THE BEST SOLUTION?

Hi
Yes, of course you can do it. You can use Brocade 4Gb SAN Switches for HP c-Class BladeSystem or HP 4Gb Fibre Channel Pass-Thru Modules for c-Class BladeSystem.

Re: Can a Blade Server (BL480 C) Connect to HP Storage Works SAN Switch 2/16 ???
Thanks for the info but my problem still is:
How can I connect the 2GB HP StorageWorks 2/16 SAN switch to the BL480C Server without using 4GB HP or Brocade switches.
Can the Blade server (BL480C) connect to a 2GB HP StorageWorks 2/16 SAN switch. Is it compatible with the 2 GB switch ??

Re: Can a Blade Server (BL480 C) Connect to HP Storage Works SAN Switch 2/16 ???
First you have to install fibre channel mezzanine card in the BL480c blade: Emulex LPe1105-HP 4Gb FC HBA for HP c-Class BladeSystem (403621-B21) or QLogic QMH2462 4Gb FC HBA for HP c-Class BladeSystem (403619-B21). The are dual-ported. The Blade has 3 mezzanine connectors. If you install the mezz card in connector 1, you will have to install c-Class switches or pass-thrus in media bays 3 and 4. And yes, you can connect them to a 2Gb switch. Both mezzanine cards and the Brocade c-Class switch support 4Gb, 2Gb and 1Gb speed links.
