Can a DL360e LFF bay + backplane be replaced with a DL360p SFF bay + backplane (667868-001)?
Currently I own a HP DL360e with a LFF bay configuration. However, I want to replace this bay with a SFF configuration. Since buying a new official part (684961-001) is quite over my budget, I've been searching the internet for a while. Even tho I found some advertizements containing the right partnumber for my DL360e, they seem not to be reading my messages.
I did however, find someone selling a SFF bay (pn: 667868-001) for a DL360p which is not the same as my DL360e. My question is, is the DL360e compactable with a SFF bay from a DL360p with partnumber 667868-001?
Thanks in advance!
Kind regards,
Rick

Hi @Cakemasher
I believe that you were not able to find any compatible part number, because the DL360e model cannot be changed from LFF to SFF by design. See Page 5 under "Internal Storage Devices" :

"NOTE: Drive cage changes are not supported."

Re: Can a DL360e LFF bay + backplane be replaced with a DL360p SFF bay + backplane (667868-001)?
Hey @krasinka1409,
Thanks for your reply!
My DL360e G8 currently has the LFF cage configured (partnumber 684960-001). According to one of the specification sheets of the DL360e G8, it can be either configured with the LFF cage (684960-001) or the SFF cage (684961-001) which can be replaced quite easly by removing 6 screws (3 on each side of the server chassis).
However, the SFF cages (684961-001) for my DL360e G8 are way over my budget unfrotunally. I did find a cage for a DL360p G8 model (667868-001) that is within my budget. My question is, even though HP would not support the configuration, does the SFF cage of the DL360p G8 (667868-001) physically fits on my DL360e G8, and will it eventually work (or does it have different connections for example)?
Thanks in advance!
Kind regards,
Rick
