Can a ML 150 G3 run Windows Server 2008 R2?

I had a relative pass away and was given a HP ProLiant ML 150 G3. Someone told me that I might have trouble getting Windows 2008 R2 to run. Is that true? I use a server but only on desktops, I run a simple LAMP server installed on top of Ubuntu Desktop. So this is all new to me.

This hardware almost seems foreign to me, like the requirement to have a floppy drive to get RAID drivers on to the HD. It makes lots of loud noises on startup as well.

Thanks.

Hi,

Visit this site and check the OS compatibility with ProLiant Servers.

http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/software/index.html

The server in question, supports only till Windows 2003.

Note: You may try to install Windows 2008 R2 on this server but HP provides no support or drivers for such installations.

Good Luck!
