Can someone please tell me where to locate the product number?

Hi all-

I am attempting to register the warranty on my client's ML310e Gen 8 V2 server.  This is now required for download of Proliant Service Packs.  I am able to readily find the serial number in multiple locations.  However, I am not able to locate the product number.  I need to be able to accomplish this remotely as I will not be physically at the server in quite some time.

Please advise.

Did you have a look behind the front cover?
Not 100% sure, but many ML... systems have the sticker there.

ILO and RBSU should show it too.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Go to

http://partsurfer.hp.com

and type in the serial number.

You will find the product number at the top of the page then.

Hope this helps!

You should be able to get the product number (and serial #) from the ILO main status page.

Indeed.  ILO is the place to look.  Thanks.  Unfortunately, for this particular client, there was only a single network drop and so no ILO.  Looks like I'm making a trip.

If the system is running Linux run

dmidecode -t 1

This will display serial number and SKU Number. SKU number is the Product ID

If your running windows open a command prompt and run

wmic bios get serial number

and

wmic /namespace:\\root\wmi path MS_SystemInformation get SystemSKU

Re: Can someone please tell me where to locate the product number?

Thank you both for these suggestions.  Both worked.  Much appreciated.

You would think that, seeing as HP is now requiring registration of warranty / CarePaq for download of ProLiant Service Packs, that would PROMINENTLY dislay BOTH the serial number and product numbers in an easy-to-find location.

Thanks again.  Both worked like a charm.

There should be a toe-tag that slides out on the front of your Gen8 that has serial number, product ID, and iLO password
