Can't boot DL320 from SATA controller card based disk

I have a G1 Proliant DL320 with on board SCSI controller. I have no scsi devices in it and put a SATA raid card in the expansion slot. The drives and controller utilities all work fine and I can boot an OS (freeBSD for example)from CD ROM and install to the disk. I cannot, however, boot from the SATA disk. I've tried everything - changed controller orders, boot orders, interrupts, etc. Even pulled the IDE devices and no joy. Is there some way to get the machine to boot from the SATA disks I've installed? Thanks

Hi,

you can set the SATA as Bootcontroller? I dont know, i dont havw an DL320, but on the other Server you must set the right Device as Bootcontroller.

Yes, it is set as the boot controller in BIOS. At boot time, it just seems to get totally ignored.
