Can't enable Systems Management Homepage on Proliant DL180 G5 after upgrade to Server 2008R2

Hopefully, the experts can provide a resolution to this issue which staff from  a third party server company, an expert from another forum, and HP Technical Support have been unable to resolve.

A customer upgraded his Proliant DL180 G5 to Server 2008R2 and now is struggling to enable the Systems Management Homepage.  He says "It's installed, but the control panel is 'blank' with the entries about the machine reading "unknown" or "no items".  His SNMP settings are set correctly and "everything else seems to be operating properly."   Tech Support has sent different drivers that are not being recognized by the system and that are not resolving the issue.  Tech Support also advised him to reboot and this did not resolve the issue.  Another forum expert advised  "I would uninstall all the HP management stuff and try again." and he provided link

The responded that there were items missing under "System Management":   such as "Insight Management agent" and "Systems Homepage" for 20088R2. Two things that refuse to install for me on the DL180.    The customer started over again and indicated he  downloaded SS 8.70B.  Below is his last report:

"So, I rebooted after uninstalling all of the HPO management software on the system and tried the SmartStart 8.70B, (which simply launches the PSP stored on the disk, so I'm unsure why I need the CD at all).

Received the same error under "HP Insight Management Agents for Windows Server 2003/2008 x64 Edition" - Failed Dependencies.

Tried to install the two packages that support has "found" for me several times before.

cp103459 - 100 Series Mngmnt Controller Driver - Error: Software not installed.. required hardware is not present...or software / firmware does not apply to this system.

cp008632 - 100 series Null Mngmnt INF Installer - Error: OS Not supported.

So, still no progress at all."

We certainly would appreciate your comments/suggestions.

Re: Can't enable Systems Management Homepage on Proliant DL180 G5 after upgrade to Server 2008R2

Hi,

According to my experience, the HP SmartStart or ProLiant Support Pack wont work on HP 100 series ProLiants.

SMH requires HP Insight Management Agents, SNMP/WBEM to work on the server.

Hello HP Pro Suman_AN,

We certainly do appreciate your response.  After submitting many requests, I saw this morning that the HP case was finally elevated, and the new specialist or engineer also indicates that SMH is not supported by the Proliant DL 180 G5.  (What is the process for conveying this to level one support?)

He also provides an additional explanation:  that if the customer can't see or install SMH drivers this entry level server may not have HP Lights Out 100c Remote Management Card 100c Kit, part 445513-B21.

One question--if SMH is not supported why doesn't the documentation reflect this?   In fact, when I browsed some of the advisories, I see the Proliant series 100 servers listed, including the DL180 G5, for example, see below:

Thanks again for your expert reply.
