Can't update Server GEN9 with internal dvd-rom

Hi,

 

when i'm trying to update SPP or intelligent provisiong on a Gen9 server (DL and ML) using the internal dvd-rom with a bootable CD, after the loading system returns a black screen with "error kernel".

 

With the same CD but an external dvd-rom there isn't this problem.

 

can someone help me?

Hi,

 

Other than "error kernel", is there any Hex code number displayed on the screen?

 

Internal CD/DVD ROM issues may occur if:

1. Internal drive is bad.

2. Internal drive cabling is faulty/bad.

3. Internal drive firmware needs updating.

4. Internal drive is Non-HP branded.

5. Internal drive is not compatible with this server model.

Thanks for the reply.

 

I've noticed that after the firmware update the internal dvd-rom works.

 

How can i use the internal dvd-rom for update the SPP or Intelligent provisioning without using an external dvd-rom before?

The current SPP is almost 5GB, maybe too large for a DVD.

 

Better use USB Key Tool version 2.0 (!!!) and create a bootable USB thumb drive or use virtual media via ILO.
