Can we add more dual core processor on HP Proliant BL465c - AMD server

Hi All,

We are using HP Proliant BL465c - AMD with 2 dual core processor.

Now we would like to add 2 more dual core processor, is it possible?

What is the procedure to add new processor?

You can not add more than two processors to the BL465c blades. If you need more processors, you can repalce the dual core with quad core.
Are you sure they are 2 dual core and not one quad core?

I have found using below given command.

# more /proc/cpuinfo

model name : Dual-Core AMD Opteron(tm) Processor 2218

Is core 2 duo and core 2 quad same?

Could you please give the quad processor details (like speed, cach) suits for this server?

The AMD processors are dual core or quad core, that is two CPUs in one processor or 4 CPUs in one processor (6-core processors are also available). The core2 duo is Intel terminology not AMD.

You did not mention if you have a G5 or G6 blade server.

I suspect that since it has dual core CPUs, it is a G5. The G6 came out recently. You should be able to see the blade model from the onboard blade chassis administrator interface.

You can see the CPU part numbers that you need to order. For pricing you should talk to your HP supplier, it is locally determined based on your site.

Actually i am working from offshore.

So i can not see on blade chasis.
