Can you do this through the system BIOS?
The RBSU manual lists "core disabling" under G6, but this looks like it is talking about the Intel G6 servers, not the AMD G6 servers.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Re: Can you disable cores on DL385 G6 using RBSU
Thanks for the reply. Now the followup.
How can you disable the cores on a DL385 G6?
Are there OS utilities?

Re: Can you disable cores on DL385 G6 using RBSU
It seems (searching in the manuals here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DocumentIndex.jsp?contentType=SupportManualтМй=en&cc=us&docIndexId=64180&taskId=135&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3949986)
I'd better take a look here too:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/5347FD31-A43C-4633-AD70-D3D47BA8A44B/FinalDownload/DownloadId-B18B073CDA88D68E7B40B4B9E6C31783/5347FD31-A43C-4633-AD70-D3D47BA8A44B/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c00191707/c00191707.pdf
that the only way to perform processor power regulations in your model is SSSTK (Smart Start Scripting Toolkit). I had found a citation yesterday, but i don't know where it is now.
It seems that the only server where the feature is "highlighted" is 585 g6...
I guess in the future versions of RBSU you will have the possibility to change it.
Try keep an eye @ firmwares for a while. This is the only thing i can suggest u.

Re: Can you disable cores on DL385 G6 using RBSU
If you notice in the RBSU guide there is the core disabling option and (i agree with you, and that's why i say "NO" in the first posT) it seems that is only referred to Intel processors, but the specific voice is not marked as "only intel" like others...
If you can you can give it a try.

SolutionI just booted up ours to check for you. It came in last week. There is one option for disabling cores. Disable one half of all cores for each physical processor.
This was a DL385 G6 with dual AMD 2427 six core processors.
