Can you fix PhysicalDrive assignment in an Array?

Hi,

Q: Is there a way using ACU CLI to fix the PhysicalDrive assignment
such that 1:0 reads as 2:0
so that I can get the Array A
to mirror up when I put a new disk in the Bay ?

See below for Array config.....

Background:

I help at a small rural school where I've replaced an ML 380 G3 running Win2k server with a 2nd hand DL 380 G4 (still running 2k server) - no budget.

Using Reg Exports and Imports I was able to install the 6i controller drivers and had the other necessary 2k drivers downloaded.

ML350 uses different Channel assignments to DL380.
The 380 Chassis is configured as Simplex.

I have 3 Mirrors. I've been able to get Mirrors B & C successfully up an running, however Mirror A is proving to be a HUGE pain.

Here's the Array A config that's giving me real problems.

Array: A
Interface Type: Parallel SCSI
Unused Space: 0 MB
Status: Failed
Logical Drive: 1
Size: 33.9 GB
Fault Tolerance: 1+0
Heads: 255
Sectors Per Track: 32
Cylinders: 8716
Stripe Size: 128 KB
Status: Interim Recovery Mode
Array Accelerator: Enabled
Unique Identifier: 600508B10018423953514E3148380
Disk Name: \\.\PhysicalDrive0
Mount Points: C:\ 23.9 GB
physicaldrive 1:0
SCSI Bus: 1
SCSI ID: 0
Status: Failed
Drive Type: Data Drive
Interface Type: Parallel SCSI
Size: ??? GB
physicaldrive 2:1
SCSI Bus: 2
SCSI ID: 1
Status: OK
Drive Type: Data Drive
Interface Type: Parallel SCSI
Transfer Mode: Ultra 3 Wide
Size: 36.4 GB
Transfer Speed: 160 MB/Sec
Rotational Speed: 15000
Firmware Revision: HP02
Serial Number: 3ET0F9F2
Model: HP 36.4GST336752LC

Is there a way using ACU CLI to fix the PhysicalDrive assignment
such that 1:0 reads as 2:0
so that I can get the Array A
to mirror up when I put a new disk in the Bay ?

Right now I've got 3 Mirrors, however the C: i.e Array A, won't re-mirror with a new drive as the Array thinks it should use Channel 1 which on an ML is the internal, whilst on DL is external !!!

Thanks HEAPS in advance.

Re: Can you fix PhysicalDrive assignment in an Array?

In simpler format, here's the Array A layout.
Smart Array 6i in Slot 0 ()

array A (Parallel SCSI, Unused Space: 0MB)

logicaldrive 1 (33.9 GB, RAID 1+0, Interim Recovery Mode)

physicaldrive 1:0 (port 1:id 0 , Parallel SCSI, ??? GB, Failed)
physicaldrive 2:1 (port 2:id 1 , Parallel SCSI, 36.4 GB, OK)

Array B & C worked 100% fine when taken from the other server.

Just Array A that's holding me up - i.e. no Fault Tolerance at this time as Controller thinks Array A needs a disk on Port 1 ( which in Simplex is the channel at the rear of the server and not the front bays)....

Please if anyone can tell me how to correct the controller's view of the array so it thinks it should use Port 1:id 0 instead of Port 2:id 0. At the moment there is NO drive in bay 0 so server boots.

REALLY appreciate ANYONE who can help me on this.

DUOH..... I meant .....

instead of Port 1:id 0.

Re: Can you fix PhysicalDrive assignment in an Array?

did you ever get an answer to this? I've got a similar problem except I have SATA disks and want to change disk 1:2 port 2I to Port 1I. looks like others have had these type of problems too. Doesn't bode well

cheers
