Can you upgrade from NT to 2000?

Hello - I was just wondering if anybody has tried/had any success with upgrading from Windows TN 4.0 Server to Windows 2000 Server? I have a Prosignia 200 server that may need Windows 2000 loaded on it soon and I was wondering if I could cut corners and upgrade the current WINNT 4 Server rather then start all over (like I should do) and install from scratch.

Are there any issues with installing Windows 2000 Server from scratch? I know this is another question altogether, but are there many problems with Windows 2000 Server on this model of Compaq even when installed on a blank hard drive?

Thank you very much. I appreciate any replies.

Re: Can you upgrade from NT to 2000?

You should be able to upgrade NT 4.0 to Windows 2000 provided the machine has the minimum required memory (128mb). You will need to determine what services are running on the machine and research any possible issues with those services (e.g. login scripts, DNS, WINS) and see how to implement those changes in Windows 2000.

There shouldn't be any issues with installing Windows 2000 from scratch.
