Canno't update firmware

Server: HP Proliant DL180 G5
OS: Windows 2008 x64
Current BIOS Version: HP O17, 08-03-2008

We downloaded Online ROM Flash Component for Windows - HP ProLiant DL180 G5 Servers Version 2008.10.02 (30 Oct 2008) from this URL http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3580699&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3580698&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=4024

When we try to execute the updaate program we get the following error:

"The software will not be installed on this system because the required hardware is not present in the system or the software/firmware doesn't apply to this system. "

Re: Canno't update firmware

Try the offline version.
Thats the one below, saying USB version.

You will need a USB memory stick, that will be formated.

Re: Canno't update firmware

were you able to fix you issue???

if not check this

ML150 G5 and DL180 G5 share the same System Board (same spare part number)

but there a switch configuration which makes a server Dl180 g5 or ML150 g5

so you have to check the Chassis ID switch (picture attached)

since you gotta an DL180 g5
all 4 positions must be OFF

and for ML150 G5
1 - 2 ON
3 -4 OFF

I think your Dl180 maybe it is configured as ml150 g5 and that won't let the update to run properly

I hope this help
Didn't your momma teach you to say thanks!

Re: Canno't update firmware

The USB version doesn't work either, but does give a different error message:

"There are no ROM image files on the ROMPAQ disk for the device you have selected"

I've checked the Chassis ID, on our revision those jumpers have been replaced with mini switches, but they are in the correct configuration, so it's not that either....

Re: Canno't update firmware

Got it!

Misunderstood the USB instruction, took it to mean the USB option listed below the CD-ROM option, rather than the different *file* listed here:

Re: Canno't update firmware

I am with the same problem. Using the USB KEY Metohd, downloaded "Systems ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade for HP ProLiant DL180 G5 Servers (For USB Key-Media)" from this link http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3580698&prodNameId=3580699&swEnvOID=4022&swLang=8&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=MTX-7ebdedde8894425da1cdb58191
But when I boot from the USB Stick, I got the error "There are no ROM image files on the ROMPAQ disk for the device you have selected".
Attached is a screenshot of the USB Stick Contents. I've just followed the instructions in the Start.htm file. What I'm missing now?
