Cannot access Sentinel on LPT1

I've got a problem with a ML330 running NT WS 4.0 with SP6.

The machine is running as an Ericsson Voicemail server. (Phone)
The Ericsson software requires a "dongle", and was delivered with a "Sentinel C-Plus B", modelnumber RB-C09028.

I've tested the LPT1 port with a HP 870CXi, and during the installation the printer install-program reports that the two-way communication does not function properly.
I can print when the driver is installed, so the Paralell-port is working properly.

I've upgraded to the latest BIOS Rompaq without further success.

Any suggestions?

are you using a bi directional cable or single direction? bi directional is required for two way
