Cannot access tape drive (HP DAT 72i) on ML350 G3 (SLES8)

I have problems accessing my DAT tape drive (built in HP Storageworks DAT 72i) on my HP Proliant ML350 G3 running SuSE SLES8. Nothing looking like a tape device shows up in /etc/fstab and no st0 device is found while listing: ls /dev/st0* although the st0a, st0l and st0m is there.

It also puzzles me that I can write to a device called /media/tape even whithout having a tape in the drive.

Can anybody tell me how to configure my tape device?

Hi,
How have you connected the DAT Drive on the
internal SCSI or you are using a different
SCSI HBA.
Because the following site says it may require a seperate HBA to connect the DAT Drive. Just confirm it.
http://www.hp.com/products1/storage/compatibility/tapebackup/ISS/index.html

Pls don't try to wrtie on /media/tape this will do noting but create a big file named
/mdedia/tape and making you filestystem full.
