Cannot attach an IDE drive to an ML530

I have added a PCI IDE controller to an ML530.

The computer currently boots from the scsi raid array, but when I plug in an IDE disk (needed for non-critcal storage space) it will not boot up. I have checked the boot contoller order in the bios and that still lists the scsi array as first-boot and the new raid controller as number 5.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Dear Andy,

As I know, I believe this server is not capable of booting from IDE drive attached to it's interface. If you have added additional IDE card, you can try to change the boot controller order from the BIOS.

Thanks for replying.

I dont want to boot from the IDE disk, just use it as cheap storage and the boot controller settings in the bios still list the scsi drives as the prefered boot device.

Not quite sure where to go from here
