Cannot boot DL385 G~! with USB drive plugged in

If I plug in a USB drive, either a key bob or drive, boot hangs during post of BIOS. I have the current BIOS loaded, and this is happening on three different servers with different USB drives. All were using USB mouse/keyboard combinations.

The halt occurs in slightly different places. On one machine, it hangs when the system tries to boot from the DVD drive; it never actually attempts it, and moving the drive lower in the boot order didnt make any difference. on another, it happens at the F9 message.

I found I could get the system to boot if I used PS2 connectors instead of USB for mouse and keyboard, but that screws up my KVM equipment.

Any ideas on how to get around or fix this issue?
