Cannot install 2008 x64 on a dl185G5 P400

The installation by default does not see any controllers, so i downloaded latest sas/sata drivers, put it on a pen drive and start installation....
but it does not see ANY drives, it says that no new devices are detected after the driver(there's a RAID 1 already configured).

any ideas?

Have you tried using HP Smart Start CD?

during POST when the P400 displays it's ROM information, did you press F8 and configure the RAID settings?

Hi,

What options do you get on the: Where do you want to install Windows?, screen?

Regards,

Re: Cannot install 2008 x64 on a dl185G5 P400

Bermudez,
i've tried that driver already.

The 2008 CD boots, starts loading then after the language selection i'm grreted by the "select storage driver" since nothing is autodetected, i put my pen drive, browse to it and the P400 is automatically detected(the hide not compatible checkbox is checked).

I click next, it processes for some seconds(the progress bar completes several times) then returns an error that no drives have been found and i'm left in the same screen.

i've deleted and receated the logical drive, moved bays, tested with another P400. With a Linux install, the logical drives appear ok

Johan,
the non-miniport drivers cannot be used on boot-drives, as this is the case i can't use anything but the sas/sata one

Re: Cannot install 2008 x64 on a dl185G5 P400

ok, The controller is detected. Sometimes we get teh Non-HDDs detected because is not there a valid partition.

Since this is an Smart Array controller, sometimes we do not need to load the driver.

One question, does the Drive Options is enable?

You also could try to disable the embedded controller.

Re: Cannot install 2008 x64 on a dl185G5 P400

The problem was the optical drive used, a PATA reader works ok, but a SATA drive reports SMART errors and fails in the manner specified above.
