Cannot see created RAID1 in Windows ML150 G6 (raid controller p410)

Hi

I have a ML150 G6 Server using a P410 SAS Controller. I've been using this server for about 2 years and wanted to expand the diskspace. I added 2*1TB SAS disks and created an RAID1. Which worked perfectly. I can't see the Harddisk in Windows though. Under Hardware Manager the Device is listed as HP LOGICAL VOLUME SCSI Disk Device with a question mark. I cannot find any drivers that work. All the drivers I've found were installed on the machine. What could the issue be? Strangely enough the other RAID1 is also marked as HP LOGICAL VOLUME SCSI Disk and works. When I try to go to that folder and add those drivers it doesn't work :(

thanks for answers! :)

Hi,

Is there a Cache like BBWC or FBWC installed?

Have you used Array Configuration Utility in Windows OS to check whats wrong?

Click here for HP ProLiant Array Configuration Utility for Windows.

Click here for P410 QuickSpecs.  According to the quick specs:

Online array expansion (with BBWC/FBWC upgrade)
Online logical drive extension (with BBWC/FBWC upgrade)
Online RAID level migration (with BBWC/FBWC upgrade)
Online strip size migration (with BBWC/FBWC upgrade)

Good Luck!

Thanks!

Hello silbro,

as far as I understand you're not trying to expand the existing array, but you're adding more disk space by creating a new array.

Did you create a logical drive as well?

Sometimes you need to do a 'rescan' to be able to see the new disks.

Hi Johan

Thanks for your reply. Yes I have created a new RAID 1 with 2 newly added 1TB harddrives. I created a logical drive in the raid utility before booting windows. I have already tried to rescan for new harddrives in windows. Is that the rescan you meant?

Hi Suman

Thanks for your reply. There is no cache installed as far as I know. I might have to check that again to be sure. I haven't used the array configuration utility in windows. I will try this utility now and give you more feedback.

thanks in advance :)

Yes that's the one I meant.

And what if you in Windows go to Disk Management - can you not see the disk in there either?

No I cannot see the disk in there. I added 3 printscreens if that helps. I also tried to scan for new disks after a reboot.

This might be a stupid question, but have you tried to reboot

I don't think this is a stupid question ;) often it solves the problem. Sadly in my case this did not solve my problem. I have rebooted several times (3 times, once I even recreated the raid to see if that changes anything)
