Centos 6.2 on DL380 Gen8 troublesome with MPS table mode = full APIC

Hello

I have installed CentOS 6.2 on a DL380 Gen8. Unless "MPS table mode" is set to "disabled" in RBSU, the operating system behaves very badly - udev segfaults during boot, and segmentation faults continually occur for other processes randomly, making the system basically unusable. Disabling the MPS table means SMP gets disabled, and that isn't acceptable either.

I've tried kernels from 2.6.32-220.el6.x86_64 through to 2.6.32-279.14.1.el6.x86_64 with similar results. I won't post a whole dmesg output but some messages below seem relevant (from 2.6.32-220.el6.x86_64).

I've run hardware diagnostics on the machine and it checks out fine. I have tried a huge variety of kernel command line options and RBSU settings with no success.

Has anyone succesfully installed CentOS 6.2 on the DL380 Gen8 ? What procedure was used?

Thanks

Charles

Re: Centos 6.2 on DL380 Gen8 troublesome with MPS table mode = full APIC

Hi,

As per my knowledge this server does not support CentOS.

Now coming to "MPS Table Mode", here is the description "MPS Table Mode is used to interrupt routing. Certain unsupported operating systems may require disabling the MPS Table."

Thanks!
