Change Drive Letters
Hi,
I recently had a problem with my ML 530 server. The operating system, Win2000 server, crashed. The server use a SmartArray 5300, with the following configuration: 2 9.1GB 10K making Raid 1, where is installed the operating system, and 4 36.4 GB 10k making Raid 5. The raid 1 configurations crash and I configur it again. I installed my operating system again and !What a surprise!!! My driver letters had changed. May I change the drive letters without causing any problem to my system? May I have a backup of my smartarray 5300, configurations?
Please somebody reply,
Thank you.

Re: Change Drive Letters
Hi, The configuration of the array controller is pick up by the drives. If the ACU shows your configuration with your logical mirror and you logical raid 5 you are ok and the hardware is fine. The drive letter is a OS issues and in that case I would suggest contacting Microsoft or to search in their database to find out what could be done with shifting drive letters and if their is something to be done.
