David,

>>is' it neccessary to update the smartarray firmware (Actual version for Smartarray 5302/64 is 1.28)?

YES. You use very old firmware version.
The most convenient way to update SmartArray firmware is online update - you run firmware update from windows and do restart:
http://h18004.www1.hp.com/support/files/storage/us/download/20193.html
Carefully read Prerequisites sections.

>>Is'it necessary update the firmware disk?

Generally speaking you need to use
Firmware Maintenance CD to update SCSI drives firmware.
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/23331.html
But in you case Firmware Maintenance CD doesn't contain firmware for you drives (check it here http://www.compaq.com/support/files/server/us/WebDoc/firmware/firmware740content.pdf)
I also didn't find firmware for drives you metion here http://h18004.www1.hp.com/support/files/storage/us/index.html
and in Options ROMPaq for SCSI Attached Drives (it contains firmware for old drives)
http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/17149.html

So , I assume you new 36 Gb drive just have last firmware (no firmware updates appears for this drive). And regarding old 9 Gb drive - anyway you go to replace this drive ?

Re: Change Hot Plug Disk with different size

Dear Mike
Everythings ok
I updated Smartarray, Driver and firmware, changed the two disks and no data i lose
Perfectly!!!
Now how i can use the unused space?
I open the ACU utility and there is one Array A with 2 logical Drive:
8673 Mb Raid 1+0 and 52115 Mb Free Space.

Now how i can use the free space?
Can i expand the Array A?
The ACU Utility suggest to use the free space creating another Array.
I try Volume manager but i don't see the new free space!!!
Perhaps it's necessary to create another array for the free space and afther with Volume manager expand the existing partition to use it???

Re: Change Hot Plug Disk with different size

you can go into the array A and extend the new space in the ACU, it will give you a max number you can use, just type that number in I.E. 69432 then save config changes. once it's configured, now you can use the volume manager (partition manager) at the OS level to "extend" C to max size. Hope this helps.
