There's an external SCSI port on the rear of my DL380 - can I use this to connect an external JBOD disk enclosure containing 14 disks?
The server has 2 disks in RAID 1 for the system and 4 disks in RAID 5 for data and is running FreeBSD 8.2. I want to connect an external JBOD disk array which will be configured as a ZFS/RAIDz pool, I just want to confirm whether the chassis port is OK for this or whether I need to fit an additional SCSI controller.
thanks, Andy

Re: Chassis external SCSI port on DL380 G4
Thanks for the prompt reply & clarification! I want to keep the existing internal disk set-up as it is so I guess my best bet is to install another SCSI controller for the JBOD array - I have a spare Adaptec 29160 I could use for this.
cheers, Andy
