Checking CPQARRAY and CCISS driver versions on DL360 G2

In order to check on the array status of our DL360 G2 l need to install the "HP Array Configuration Utility for Linux" (http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/download/18822.html)

It has dependancies on the following drivers:
CPQARRAY driver version 2.4.25 or later
CCISS driver version 2.4.42 or later

How do l check to see which driver versions are installed on the server?

l'm a bit hesitant to update the RAID drivers in case of totally screwing up the RAID. Are these driver updates pretty bullet proof?

Is there another way to check my array status?

Thanks in advance,

Alan

You may want to post this question to the Linux forum - there are some good Linux + Proliant folks hanging out here:

Alan:

You really should be using the ProLiant Support Pack for Linux on all of your systems. Not only will it automatically install things like the Array Configuration Utility, but it solves problems with dependencies since everything is tested as a set before it is released. In the future, always update using the ProLiant Support Pack.

It also has the benefit of showing you what version is installed and the version that is in the Support Pack.

Most users don't manually try to check their array status using the ACU. Instead, they use the Insight management agents which monitor constantly and also provide predictive failure notifications so you get warned before something actually fails. Even if you're not using Insight Manager 7 or HP Systems Insight Manager, there's a lot of benefit to using the agents. You can examine them directly through a web interface and if any problems are noticed anywhere in the system, it will write a notification to /var/log/messages with complete details and also mail them to root.

Get the complete story at http://www.hp.com/servers/manage and select "Systems Management Homepage"

Hi

But ACU is for configuration
For Array Daignostics use : ADU

since we are working on linuc try to install the ACU XE version which a web based version can help you alot.

Re: Checking CPQARRAY and CCISS driver versions on DL360 G2

The ProLiant Support Pack for Linux contains all the drivers, agents and utilities that are needed. You should rely on that rather than trying to install individual utilities.

Re: Checking CPQARRAY and CCISS driver versions on DL360 G2

Thanks for your input David and Prashant.

l was able to install the ACU alone with info provided from the Linux forum (http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=543184&admit=716493758+1081403415205+28353475)

But l do see your point about about installing the entire package. l went to the link you recomended but could not find the "Systems Management Homepage" link.

What exactly do l install?

Thanks in advance.

The "SMH" reference was for more information about the Insight agents. You need to scroll down the page and it will be on the left under "agents."

The ProLiant Support Pack should be the first item on the page of downloads for your ProLiant. Access software downloads from http://h18013.www1.hp.com/support/files/

The only thing you need to configure are agent password and community strings. Once done, when you press [Install] the PSP will figure out what your machine needs and that's all it will install.
