Cisco 2901 console to HP proliant G6 not working
Hi All,
I'm having difficulty trying to console in,via cisco 2901, to a remote HP proliant G6 server through its serial port.
Connection is like this :
Cisco 2901/EHWIC#1/Port 10 -> patchpanel -> (RJ45->Serial) HP Prolient 380 G6
I understand from the output below that cisco 2901 is not clear to send.
cisco2901#
Line 0/1/10,
Length: 24 lines, Width: 80 columns
Baud rate (TX/RX) is 9600/9600, no parity, 2 stopbits, 8 databits
Status: Ready
Capabilities: EXEC Suppressed, Output non-idle
Modem state: Ready
Modem hardware state: noCTS noDSR DTR noRTS
My question is how can I confirm the serial port have the right settings and its operational.
Server is running Red Hat linux.
Many Thanks

Re: Cisco 2901 console to HP proliant G6 not working
No idea about this cisco connection, but why not ssh into the server or use remote console via ILO?
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Hi Torsten,
We can ssh to the server but we recently had an issue where we were not able to ssh and we dont have a ILO licence for this server.
Thanks

Re: Cisco 2901 console to HP proliant G6 not working
2 stopbits sounds unusual, and "modem" looks strange too. Sure you can do this with your cisco?
If this is your setup
it won't work, because that way you access the console of the switch.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

You can use the iLO VSP (Virtual Serial Port) with the standard license. This guide should provide you with everything you need.

You could try this:
https://h20392.www2.hp.com/portal/swdepot/displayProductInfo.do?productNumber=ILO_TRIALS
the Trial License
Hope this helps!

Torsten.
