Clustering and Operating System
Hello, I need some help. Currently we have 2 Proliant 1600 servers at 15 locations, each set of servers is attached to a shared RA3000 RAID array attached to an adaptec 2944UW differential SCSI. We need to set up clustering on these systems and the only solution I have found viable is Reliant HA 1.1, has anyone done this. Also, we have the option to try and get the customer to go to SUSE Linux, would this offer more solutions and would it work on the 1600 servers? Would SUSE Linux or another Linux be a better operating system than Unixware 7.1, if not now then in the near future? Any other possible soluitons? Thanks for any help you can give or links to places that might be able to provide some info I can research. Thanks in advance again.

Re: Clustering and Operating System
For information about the RA3000 and clustering see the RAID Array 3000 Cluster Solutions for Microsoft Windows Installation Guide (EK-NT03K-IG.C01). This should answer some of your questions. If you cannot locate this on web then if you contact your local Compaq Support Center they should be able to provide you with a copy of it.
With regards to the RA3000 and the other Operating Systems you mention this will not be supported. The RA3000 is currently supported with Windows NT/Windows 2000, OpenVMS, Tru64, Novell NetWare, IBM AIX, HP-UX and SUN Solaris. For further information see Quickspecs: http://www.compaq.com/products/quickspecs/10786_na/10786_na.HTML
