Re: Compaq DL380 SmartArray Controller

If you enter the RBSU as the server is booting up... (press F9 when prompted, just before the OS starts to boot up)... then down arrow to "PCI Devices" and hit enter, another box pops up and in the list you should see your Smart Array. Down arrow to it and hit enter. Down arrow to "Disabled" and hit enter. Hit "ESC" to close the RBSU and F10 to save and exit.

The server reboots and the SM should be diabled.

I just performed this on a 380G4. I believe the steps are the same for the G2 and G3, but not certain and not sure which model you have.

Good Luck,

Re: Compaq DL380 SmartArray Controller

Is this the G1? If so, then there is no option to disable it.

What you can do is to remove it. Pull off the top of the server and on the right hand edge of the system board you should see the "integrated" smart array. It will look like a sodimm. Just pop it out and that's it.

If the server is a G2 or higher, then do what was previously recommended by disabling the pci resources in the RBSU.
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..
