Compaq Hard Drive for Proliant DL380

We purchased new Hard Drives to replace our old 36.4 10K RPM ULTRA WIDE 3 SCSI drives on the Proliant DL380 server. However, the new model (supposedly replaces the old model - new model: BD03664553) of the HDs does not work properly with the controler. As soon as we replace the old HD the controler does not see the logical drive at all (logical drive consists of 6 physical drives configured as RAID 5). I see that the new drive has a set of jumper PINs marked ADDR in the front. Do we need to have the SCSI ID set on this model before inserting it ?

Don't put any jumpers on the disk.
The SCSI-id is determined by the slot in the server where the disk is placed.

Did you purchase disks without the carrier? or are the disks ready to fit?

Did you replace the disks on a running system?
The raid-config is read from a special section on the disk.
If not first boot the dystem with the old disks. Then replace one of the disks and wait until the raidset has rebuild then replace another until all disks are replaced.
Then run ACU to extend the raidset.
