Compaq ML 370 NT to Win2K3 upgrade

What's up folks!

I have a Compaq ML370 server (duel p3 733'S) running windows NT 4 sp6. I was just told that I have to upgrade it to windows 2003 server but before I attempt this I wanted to ask if anyone has any tips or tricks.

From what I understand all I have to do is:
1. remove old drivers with the primer utility.
2. update the computers firmware.
3. download the 2000 support pack.
4. pop in the win2k3 cd and let it upgrade win nt.

Any tips would be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance and have a great weekend.

Don't forget to update the System Partition together with the SCU (F10).
There is a very good whitepaper on this topic, see ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/partners/microsoft/dotnet/WindowsServer2003/tc0304011in.pdf

I checked out that white paper you posted but didn't find any information regarding updating the System Partition together with the SCU. Could you possibly explain more in depth?

Thanks again.

Re: Compaq ML 370 NT to Win2K3 upgrade

Upgrading the SCU can be done in 2 ways:

1) boot from a recent Smartstart CD (but <6.x), you'll have the icon to update the SCU

2) download the SCU floppies and update it the oldfashion way :-)
You can download it here:
