Compaq ML530, Array 3200 and windows 2003

Hi,

I am currently trying to install windows 2003 on a ML530 with an array 3200 controller. I am using the Smartstart 5.3 CD as 6.4 does no support the 3200 controller. I am setting it up by a manual install, configured the logical drive (2*18gb mirrored) and reboot to start the Windows 2003 installation. It loads all the driver and gets to the "windows is starting" blue screen (just after it loads all the device drivers) and just hangs. I have tried a numbers and things and still end up at this point.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Ian,
In system configuration what's your OS set as?? If it's set to 'Other' then try setting it as W2K to see if this makes any difference. Just to let you know that W2K has native support for SA3200. I shall find out if W2K03 has native support for this as well and let you know.

Ian,

W2k3 does have native support for the 3200 array controller, using driver cpqarray.sys. As the previous post asks, make sure that the OS type in System Configuration is set to Microsoft Windows 2000, and confirm the 3200 is set for first in the controller boot order sequence. Lastly, make sure that you have the latest BIOS for the ML530 and the 3200 Array controller.

Let us know how it works out.

Thanks for the replys, it did indeed fix my issue. I selected the manual installed and selected w2k instead of other and it's now building as I post :)

Thanks again, now off to upgrade our servers :)
