Can you give us some more information as to the problem?
If I understand you, the drives will only POST in the fist bay of the drive cage? If this is true, you need to replace the backplane board for the drive cage:

For older type drives beige color Cages 5 drives 250911-001 for three 250909-001
If Cage that you use LVD see John reply
Also a cage with Duplex SCSI Backplane can be used confirm please
