Compaq ProLiant ML350 not starting up

Hi everyone,

I have been working on a very old Compaq ProLiant ML350 server with a 5 RAID enclosure, migrating the mail store from Microsoft Exchange 2003. This server has been running well for years, and suddenly, while I was in the process of a successful migration, I heard a loud popping noise, and suddenly the server turned off and the large fan at the back of the machine started blowing incredibly fast. I have not been able to get the server to turn back on correctly since.

When I turn it on, this same fan blows very fast, the green power light goes on, and the UID light will go on when you press the UID button, but none of the other three lights turn on.

I suspect the power module is blown, but since I only have one in the machine, I am wondering if anyone might have some advice before I go looking for another one.

Other steps I've taken:
- Reseating the power module and putting it into the second slot.
- Unplugging the server for hours and replugging.
- Trying a different power cable.

Thank you!

Hello Dave,
That could very well be it.
Other than that, do you see any LEDs on the system board ? Also, you may try re seating the memory modules.
