I have opened the system up and see only a single power supply with no apparent place for a second. Am I missing something or not understanding the Guide?
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jon K. Hale

Re: Compaq Proliant 1600 6/266 Power Failure
Two long and two short means the system got too hot. Let it cool down for 6 - 10 minutes and then power it on.
You need to check all the fans and make sure they spin when the server boots up. If any of them are not working or not working well enough, you need to replace them.
When the server does boot up, be sure to write down any error codes you see. If you see any 1610 errors, then you know you had an overheat condition. Add moving air to the front of the server and/or add A/C.
On a side note:
It is likely your server soes not have the dual canister power supply. How many power cords do you plug into this server? One or two?
Does it look lilke this:

If not, they you have the single.

Re: Compaq Proliant 1600 6/266 Power Failure
Thanks for you response. The system actually went down sometime on Friday and I was unaware of it until this morning. I have pulled everything apart, cleaned and reconnected. Yet the same problem exists. Any other ideas?

Does it power on long enough to spin the fans? Drives? Do you get any video?

Re: Compaq Proliant 1600 6/266 Power Failure
Have you tried to set SW1 S1 to ON (disable on-board video) and install a PCI video card?
Do you see any interlock LED's lit in the I/O cage?

Re: Compaq Proliant 1600 6/266 Power Failure
I tried the PCI video card and the results were the same.
I don't see any LEDs lit in the I/O cage, but don't necessarily know where I'm supposed to be looking.

HP has these to order from the Part Store for US$180.00
http://partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/main?sel_flg=modinfo&model=PRO1600
I bet you can find one third party for less... but be carefull.

Re: Compaq Proliant 1600 6/266 Power Failure
The power supply fan spins, the i/o cage fan spins, but the processor fan does not.
We still get two long beeps and two short beeps, then the power supply resets and tries again.
