Compaq Proliant 1600 Maximum SCSI Hard Drive Size

Hi,

Does any one know what the maximum hard drive
size the onboard scsi controller supports on
the old Compaq Proliant 1600? It currently
has 2 - 18 GB UW SCSI hard drives. I want to
upgrade them to either 36 GB or 72 GB. Just wondering if it is possible.

Any information greatly appreciated.

hi Joe

I can see the maximum is 36GB

I don't know if your server is PII or PIII

I added the 2 links:
PII - In options look for HDDs

PIII - In options look for HDDs

Re: Compaq Proliant 1600 Maximum SCSI Hard Drive Size

The types of drives you have will allow you to remove the current drive from the tray and replace it with a larger capacity drive (as long as it has an SCA connector). The embedded scsi adapter should be able to support the latest size drives. The only thing I would be concerned about though is the fact the embedded scsi will only support Single Ended devices (not LVD) and most newer drives may not work correctly without LVD. I would need more info on any array controller to determine which drives will work.
The truth is out there, but I forgot the URL..

Re: Compaq Proliant 1600 Maximum SCSI Hard Drive Size

Hi,

Thanks for all the quick responses. I will
be ordering a 36 GB Seagate ST336754LC which
according to the manual supports both SE and
LVD I/O circuit types.

Regards,

Joe

Ps. According to seagate 36 GB SCSI drives
are also out of production now.
