Compaq Proliant 1600 - SCSI overide internal array?

When a SCSI cable is connected to Compaq Proliant 1600 the system start up does not recognize the internal array controller. What is the process to connect SCSI device to a Compaq Proliant 1600 so array configuration is kept.

It depend on your controllers:
1. You always can connect to integrated SCSI controller (if I remember second channel is connected to external port).
2. If you use Compaq Smart Array controller you can connect tape device to external connector if no other devices is (you cannot connect in the same time externaly and internaly to the same SCSI channel).
Behaviour of your array controller point to such situation.

Usually channel B PORT 2 used for Internal Driver, and Primary (PORT A) for External.
From Post you should be able see Array Controller if you trying to use same Controller for External Devices:
No devices should be Connected at same time Externally and Internally to Same Channel.
With Additional Controller and non Array Configuration you can use On board SCSI Controller, Connector on the back. Verify that no Tape Devices or any internal Device use Channel A Internally than.
