Compaq Proliant 1600 remove redundant power supply

hi,
i have 1 proliant 1600 with 3 redundant power supply
can i connect only one power cable?
what do i need to change?

Hello,

the PL1600 with redundant power supply required that at least 2 of the 3 power supplies are connected. Otherwise it will not power up. you should connect all 3, or else you will get error messages all the time.

The single power supply is a different power unit. You would have to remove the entire power supply cage to put back the "old" non-redundant power supply.

and is there a way to avoid the press key when booted with only 2 power cables?

You can go into System Configuration Utility (F10). Press Ctrl + A when you get to the first menu (for Advanced Mode). Then go to System Configuration, Hardware Configuration, View or Edit Details. Under Advanced Options you should see an option to disable the F1 prompt on POST.

My doubts where answered, i was hoping that i could remove the redundant power supply and then change some kind of configuration/switch
