We have a Compaq Proliant 3000 server with 4 hotswapable hard drives of capacity 9.1*4 in RAID 5 environment. One drive has expired and we have purchased and expect replacement plus spare tomorrow. Can someone please direct me to a link or provide instructions on preparations and how to hot swap this drive.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Wayne:
These drives are very easy to swap out.
The assumption here is that your server has a RAID controller in it. If so, you can either rebuild the failed drive while the server is runnig, or you will be prompted when the server boots up. Here is a document that explains how to rebuild the array if your server has a Compaq SmartArray Controller installed: ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/products/servers/proliantstorage/drives-enclosures/hp%20hard%20drive%20replacement.pdf
If not, you will have to rebuild the array with the O/S.
Here is a document that can give you a good overview: ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/products/storageworks/hdd/186013-004.pdf
If your 3000 has the newer universal drive cages, read here: ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/products/servers/proliantstorage/drives-enclosures/universal-hdd-guide.pdf
I hope these documents help. -john
