Compaq Proliant ML 570 rebooting

My server contains 2GB RAM (128mbx16), 2 xeon processors, 18.2GBx5 Ultra SCSI, Smart Array 5300 Controller and O.S is Windows NT 4.0. Suddenly the system is rebooting. when we press windows nt4.0/vGA... then it is showing the ......and immediately restarting. I checked by entering into Diagonistic Utilities and run test computer but it is hanging. Secondly i tested with Smart Start CD but it is showing memory partioned error. Thirdly i tried to load with windows NT CD but on booting itself it reading the drivers then immediately it is rebooting i.e it is not asking to continue i agree or not message button. Generally while loading F6 press then we can load SCSI drivers but it is not going into that. Please help me.

Shalom,

Wintows NT can't install on that server. It is not supported.

Server is too new and the OS does not understand the hardware.

Get a real OS like Linux and try that. If you must use windows, Try Server 2003.

That may not support the version of OS (NT4) but I'm too sure I will try to get a cleared response about it. But for now make sure you have install the latest version of
service pack 6 That will probably solve isssues specially hanging..

Re: Compaq Proliant ML 570 rebooting

This is a ML570 G1, so it DOES support Windows NT Server. Check QuickSpecs here: http://h18000.www1.hp.com/products/quickspecs/10633_div/10633_div.html

As the server is failing to load SmartStart or Windows CD, there's probably a hardware problem. Try to boot from CD with the minimum hardware possible, only 2 DIMMs, remove the SmartArray...
