Configure Disk Array and Install Linux, which comes first

For a DL380 of 6 disks: disks 1 and 2 will be in array one (RAID 1 will be implemented), disks 3, 4, and 5 will be in array two (RAID 5 will be implemented), disk #6 will be online spare.

For a "cold" installation, i.e., no operating system such as Linux has been installed, yet.

1)Can I just place the HP Smart Start CD in the CD drive and boot the server to configure the disk array and the RAID (even without an operating system!)?

2)If I can do the above first, next I'll install the Linux OS and do the disk partitions based on the configured array and RAID. Is this correct (configure disk array and RAID first, install Linux second)?

Thanks to help.

Scott, you are correct.
You can configure Arrays with SmartStart Array configuration utility (ACU) without any OS installed.
