Configure Proliant DL380 G3 server

I am a novice on this subject, thus can anyone give me some hints about how to configure and install OS on this server?

I have downloaded the Smartstart software and copied it as an image to a CD, however the server can't boot on this CD.

Thanks

Michael

Re: Configure Proliant DL380 G3 server

It sounds like you copy the image, you need to burn the cd from the image, check the link below:

After that, just boot the server from the cd and follow the installation wizard

Re: Configure Proliant DL380 G3 server

Thank you very much for your quick response.

I actually "burned" the CD with the exact same tool as you are referring to.

When booting the server I get the following messages:

Attempting boot from CD-rom
Attempting boot from Floppy-drive
Attempting boot from Hard Drive
Attempting boot from NIC

Non-system disk or disk error.....

What version are you trying to use? Have you try to burn it again?

Re: Configure Proliant DL380 G3 server

I am using SmartStart v8.00 CD ISO image..

But it seems like the problem is related to the CD-drive. If the CD-Rom is controlled by the PCI Slot 2 HP Smart Array 641 which I assume, it may be the problem as the system during start-up tells me that no device is connected.... Furthermore it seems like the CD drive is not attempting to read the CD

Re: Configure Proliant DL380 G3 server

Try the CD in another server, get the replacement part if needed.

Re: Configure Proliant DL380 G3 server

Unfortunately we don't have the option to test in another server, as we are just starting a small company having two employees, which are more management experts than IT experts, thus we don't have another server... and we don't have much server expertice....

Thank you very much for your help.
