Configuring Dip Switches for the Proliant 3000

I had a motherboard replace and the server would crash every three(3) hour. It was discoverd that two(2) dip switch were not set properly. This is a rack mounted proliant 3000(PII, 256MB RAM, 450MHZ). One of the dip switches was set for a tower not a rack mounted server and the second dip was set for 400MHZ instead of 450.

Could this cause this system to crash every 3 hours?

Also after the motherboard was install and diagnostic was ran it reported that their was a old device and it had to be changed/removed. It did provide a 8 digit number but did not identify what device was changed/removed.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks,

Keith

AFAIK the tower/rack switch is for information purposes only. And a lower CPU speed should only slow down but not crash the system.

The old device was the system board you replaced (different identifier) - when replacing parts ensure you run system configuration.

also update system rom, System config (SCU) and HP windows support pack (6.4)
