Configuring Raid 5 in a new G4

Hello I am using smartstart 7.10 to configure raid 5 in a hp ProLiant ML370 G4 Server with 3 72.8Gb ultra scsi 10.000 rpm drives. I followed the process after entering through F8 and the disks have been blinking for 26 straight hours, but the process does not seem to end. Should I continue to wait or should I start over.
Please help. It is a brand new server.
I have not installed an OS yet, but it will be 2003 server standardwhich I choosed in the smartstart config utility

Re: Configuring Raid 5 in a new G4

The ACU blinks all the lights to indicate that you are accessing them through the utility. This is designed to help identify arrays and disks. For example if you change the view to physical disks and highlight one of the disks then only the lights on that disk will blink. Is this what you mean?

If this is what is happening then they will stop blinking when you exit the utility.

Creation of arrays is almost instantaneous, so once you have exited then you may continue with your installation.

You really should start up a new thread so that you can then close it, assign points, chat with the residents, etc once you have a solution.

To quickly answer your question, If you have a Smart Array controller, you can easily add in another drive if you have an available slot. Expanding your Array is easy. Depending on what you want to do with the space after it is expanded is a different story.
