Connecting more than 8 drives on DL580G5
I've read somewhere in the thread that in order to connect more than 8 drives, I need either 2 cards or a P800, which someone has used it successfully to connect 12 drives.
However I've come across the part HP DL580G5 PCI-X Input Output Upgrade Option Kit (452182-B21), which could increase the number of drives connected to 8, I am not sure that could be achieved if I want to use the onboard P400, no specs or data sheet can be located.
I've hope to a single card for connecting 14 drives in RAID 10, and the balace 2 for OS in Raid 1
Appreciate any kind advise

Re: Connecting more than 8 drives on DL580G5
hi
impossible server architecture won't let you use just 1 controller to work on all 16 HDDs you need a p400 and another p400 or a p400 and p800
a p800 will only handle 8 HDDs for that server
the only server I've seen that support a p400 or p400 and more that 8 HDDs is Dl120 G5 maybe there is another out there but I don't know
bye
