Controller Boot Order

I have an ML350 system with an onboard 5i controller and also a 532
controller. The disks are attached to the 532 hence the 5i is pretty much
redundant at this time. My problem is that I cannot set the controller order
to be the 532.

When I run smartstart I get no option to edit the hardware details as the
Array config is run and we setup the logical drive on the 532 and the
server reboots to setup the system partition. This fails as it is not the
boot controller and I'm then stuck at this point. None of the BIOS options
on boot for the controllers give the option to change the boot order.

Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Hi, the ml 350 has a RBSU (rom base setup utility) accessible through the F9 option and through the boot controller order you should be able to select the right controller to be scsi first (532 in your case).

Hello. Sorry for my bumble English. My situation is very similar. My system must boot from mirroring disks ( RAID controller installed on SLOT4 ).
When only RAID ( on SLOT4 ) and no other disks installed on other controllers, system boot from RAID - OK.
When I connect one more disk on SCSI controler on SLOT1, system want to boot from this disk, and I see no way to change boot order to my RAID

I found nothing like that.

Bios Configuration Utility accessible through the F10 ( not F9 !!!! )

Here is only:

Boot order:
CD ROM
Floppy
Hard Drive ( c: )

Modify Hard Drive Controller order:
Slot1 Compaq Dual ...... SCSI controller Port1 > First
Sustem Embedded IDE Controller > Second
Slot1 Compaq Dual ...... SCSI controller Por2 > Third

That's all.

How can I specify to boot from disk on SCSI controller on SLOT4?????

This is a OLD post but for any future searchers:
if you have an older Proliant server there is no F9 option. Need to run the SCU software program. This is accessible from the systemn partition if it was installed. Otherwise run from SmartStart CD. Otherwise go out to download for your given Proliant model and make the bootable diskette.
