Controller Error

we have HP DL 380 g5 servers running windows server 2003 server OS and one of them shows this error " The driver detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk0" on the event viewer and constantly restarts. Any suggestion for resolution will be appreciated.

Re: Controller Error

Do you have storage agents installed?

You should be able to see more detailed messages from SMH (if server is up).

If server cannot boot up at all, consider to boot from smartstart and use ACU to investigate.

Hope this helps!

Re: Controller Error

Harddisk 0 means failed drive or a firmware glitch. Is the firmware on the controlelr and drive up to date. HP will ask that before you replace the drive. Do a full backup first. Firmware upgrade second. If still failed replace drive.

Re: Controller Error

I can still access the drives meaning they are still working and have reinstalled the controller driver yet no solution.

Re: Controller Error

Try running an Array Diagnostic report and attach it to the forum.
- Make sure the storage controller is running the latest firmware as already suggested.
- Do you have a tape drive attached? External storage? USB Keys, etc.. That could be triggering the error..
If it's not fun, you're not doing it right

Re: Controller Error

I do not have any external storage device attached. Attached is the smart array report capture.
