Correct Procudure for Updating BIOS and firmware

Hi folks,

Would like some information as to the correct procedure to update the system bios and firmware on a Compaq Proliant 1600.

I would also like to know what i can upgrade to processor wise without changing too much. Currently has a P2 300 fitted at the moment.

Many thanks in advance

Re: Correct Procudure for Updating BIOS and firmware

The fastest HP/Compaq processor for this 1600 was a P2 450 MHz. I don't know if you can go faster without upgrading the system board.

The System BIOS, firmware, and other software such as drivers for the 1600 are all here:

http://h18023.www1.hp.com/support/files/server/us/family/model/1126.html?lang=en&cc=us

Instructions are included - just select your operating system, then the download (such as the "Systems ROMPaq") for the System BIOS. Scrolling down on the actual download web page, you will see instructions for how-to.
